Event: Exhibition of String Art as well as an opportunity to crete a piece of art for yourself.
I wouldn’t describe myself as an “artist”, but I do like to get creative every now and again!
Last year, my friend, Jen McClare, told me she was going to attempt some string art. This is where nails are hammered into a piece of wood and string is woven around the nails to form a design. I thought this sounded great and decided to give it a go myself. As it turns out, I didn’t do too badly! One piece led onto another and, as I became more skilled in the art, I started to challenge myself with more complex designs. The photos that you can see are just some of the pieces that I will display at the Walk of Art. I’m currently working on more, including a clock and a map of the world!
Jen will be joining me at the event and will be displaying some amazing string art of her own. Our stall will be “hands-on”. Jen has been working on around 40 little pieces of string art, forming shapes and letters with the nails, ready for people to come along and weave their own string. These can then be taken away for free! We don’t expect any money; we are just more than happy to be involved with the Horsforth Walk of Art and can’t wait for the event!
