I have always loved sewing, and started by making clothes but moved on to soft furnishings, upholstery and machine drawings in a sketch style with applique details. I “sketch” all sorts of things and last year I had a display of embroidered animal portraits in Daniel Hayton’s Opticians. This year I’m hosting my display in my garden, and it will be embroideries of Horsforth landmarks.
I’m interested in architecture, manmade structures and urban planning, not only for the structures themselves but also for the talking points they create and how a community views them. I wanted to represent a few of Horsforth’s well known sights in this display, some popular and others not so much! I love living in Horsforth, all these sights are significant to me and my family and I hope you enjoy identifying them too.
I will also have some of my upholstery work on display, including some upcycled vintage furniture. The Horsforth embroideries will be available to buy, along with some postcards of the animal embroideries from last year’s Walk of Art. I’ll be there too of course, so please stop by for a chat about embroidery, Horsforth, upholstery and anything else!
